Object Name Pin, Priming
Description Firing pin (discharged) taken from German schu (shoe) mine on Omaha Beach, France, October 1944. Approximately 15 soldiers of the 55th Armored Engineer Battalion (55 AEB) of the 10th Armored Division were assigned to clear a mine field on Omaha Beach 4 months after the initial D-Day landing. The firing pin was taken from the first shoe mine deactivated by Herbert Stone.
