Description Commemorative braided rope made from American and French flags which hung from the Eiffel Tower when France was liberated. Cord is in plastic display case with 3 cards: two show image of Eiffel tower with tattered flag, the the third has text: "THIS CORD, SYMBOL OF FRANCE - AMERICAN FRIENDSHIP HAS BEEN WOVEN FROM THE TISSUES OF THE AMERICAN AND FRENCH FLAGS WHICH WERE FLYING FROM THE EIFFEL TOWER PARIS ON THE DAY OF LIBERATION (24th 1944). PRIOR TO THE MAKING UP OF THE CORDS THE STARS AND OTHER VARIOUS PIECES HAD BEEN REMOVED FROM THE FLAGS IN ORDER TO MAKE A SPECIAL EDITION. PRESENT FROM COMITE DE PARIS AND E.L. BLANCHET, PARIS."
